Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (225g) cottage cheese
- 1 small apple, finely diced (e.g., Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 1 ripe banana, thinly sliced (about 1/8-inch thick)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder
- 1 teaspoon olive oil or cooking spray
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the Cinnamon Apple Cottage Cheese. In a small bowl, combine the cottage cheese, finely diced apple, maple syrup (or honey), 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and alcohol-free vanilla extract. Stir gently until well combined. Set aside.
- Step 2: Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar mixture for banana chips. In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Stir well and set aside.
- Step 3: Air fry the banana chips. Lightly coat the thinly sliced banana rounds with olive oil or cooking spray. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. Cooking time may vary based on air fryer model and banana thickness.
- Step 4: Coat and serve. Immediately after air frying, transfer the warm banana chips to the bowl with the cinnamon-sugar mixture and toss gently until evenly coated. Serve the Cinnamon Apple Cottage Cheese Bites topped with or alongside the warm Cinnamon-Sugar Air Fryer Banana Chips for a delightful snack or breakfast.
Notes
- The Cinnamon Apple Cottage Cheese is lovely chilled and will keep well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days; for peak crispiness, enjoy the banana chips immediately as their texture is best fresh.
- Should your delightful banana chips lose their crispness overnight, a quick 2-3 minute refresh in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) will often revive their crunch, just watch them carefully to avoid over-browning.
- For an even more satisfying treat, serve these bites layered in a small parfait glass, perhaps with a sprinkle of toasted walnuts or a drizzle of extra maple syrup for a touch of elegance and added texture.
- A key to perfectly golden and crispy banana chips is consistent slicing; aim for a uniform 1/8-inch thickness, and remember to never overcrowd your air fryer basket to allow for proper air circulation.
