Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- Olive oil for cooking
- Optional: sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients.
- Step 2: Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients while stirring with a spoon or your hands until a sticky dough forms.
- Step 3: Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for about 1 to 2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Step 4: Once risen, lightly flour your work surface and turn out the dough. Divide it into equal portions (about 4-6 pieces) and shape each piece into a round disc.
- Step 5: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and drizzle a bit of olive oil. Cook each disc for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top while cooking for added flavor.
- Step 6: Serve warm with dips or use as a flatbread for sandwiches!
Notes
- For best storage, wrap any leftover Turkish bread in a clean kitchen towel and place it in a sealed plastic bag; it will stay fresh at room temperature for up to two days.
- To reheat, simply warm the bread in a skillet over low heat for a couple of minutes on each side until it's soft and slightly crispy again.
- Consider serving the Bazlama with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping or use it as a base for wraps filled with your favorite meats and veggies.
- For an extra touch, experiment with adding herbs or spices like za'atar or garlic powder into the dough before cooking for an aromatic twist!
